The Indian online gaming industry is exploding as people rush to their preferred gaming platform to play or watch their favourite games. This segment has become the favourite ground for online scammers who are increasingly targeting gamers online, duping players of their hard-earned money.
A new report by cyber security major Norton shared the insights into this phenomenon. 3 in 4 gamers as per the report surveyed in India have experienced a cyberattack with a majority experiencing a considerable financial impact.
The impact in numbers, for every four out of five gamers was calculated to an average of Rs 7,894, victims of a cyber-attack. 80 per cent of targeted gamers suffered a loss on average and about 35 per cent through a cyber-attack complained of having malicious software on their gaming devices. About 29 per cent had detected unauthorized access to their online gaming account.
